Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager/Project Coordinator, the position of Finance Officer encompasses the management of an organization's financial health, encompassing responsibilities such as financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

  • Reporting directly to senior management, often the Financial Manager, the Finance Officer plays a crucial role in driving the organization's financial strategy, coordinating budget development, and overseeing daily accounting functions.
  • This role requires a deep understanding of financial data, excellent communication skills to convey financial insights to non-financial staff, and the ability to manage financial risks and develop strategic financial plans.
  • The overall scope of the position involves ensuring the organization's financial stability and growth, contributing to its long-term success by effectively utilizing resources and meeting financial objectives.
  • Under the guidance, advice and support of Project Coordinator and Finance Manager, Finance Officer will be responsible for the following,
  • Oversee and manage daily projects-wide accounting and finance functions including timely recording of transactions, cash management, banking, payroll, inventory, receivables, and payables.
  • Plan and implement systems for financial operations in the country office and in area program offices in accordance with the Organization Financial Policy and donor regulations; including systems for cash flow management, budgeting, consolidation of accounting information, internal controls, financial reporting, financial record-keeping, grant management and compliance.
  • Maintain banking relations and plan and monitor country cash flow requirements to ensure the smooth implementation of Organization projects.
  • Prepare monthly standard accounting submissions to for review by the Finance Manager, including general ledger files, account reconciliations, expenditures by cost center/project, as well as other financial information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare monthly management reports to the Finance Manager and Program staff as required, including expenditures by cost center/project and other financial information, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare financial reports, for review by the Finance Manager, to donors in line with donor requirements and templates.
  • Assist in developing annual fiscal year budgets together with the Finance Manager.
  • Continuously stay abreast with donor policies, procedures, rules and regulations; compile and update applicable local policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Organization financial policies and procedures.
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to SHARP and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
